The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust seeks to appoint an EME Services Officer to become part of the senior management team within the Medical Engineering Department. We are looking for a talented and experienced candidate who will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of a safe and effective maintenance service in support of the high-quality patient care delivered by the organisation.

This is a great opportunity to join an excellent Medical Engineering and Estates Team at the heart of exciting and innovative projects that will transform and future proof our Cardio, Maternity and ITU services for our patients.

This post will have Trust wide responsibility, and a base site will be discussed at interview.

Main duties of the job

• To provide a cost-effective service and to ensure that staff and patients have at their disposal reliable equipment that is clinically suitable, safe and diagnostically accurate.
  To provide specialist advice on the procurement, safe use and disposal of a broad spectrum of medical electronic devices, some of which are highly specialised, complex and technologically advanced, and therefore requiring an in-depth knowledge of current medical engineering principles and their applications. To promote external business generation, current income in excess of £100k.
• The EME Services Officer is responsible for determining the most appropriate engineering solutions in order to meet specific procurement, maintenance and safety requirements in relation to medical device management and the strategic objectives of the Trust.
• Candidates should hold a minimum of bachelor's degree in a relevant subject. Possess a comprehensive knowledge of all relevant standards, regulations and codes of practice relating to the management of medical devices and associated technologies. Have the ability to lead a team of highly skilled technicians and be able to resolve difficult situations involving the maintenance of a wide range of medical/renal/laboratory/CCTV equipment. Excellent communication skills are required along with an ability to effectively manage staff, suppliers and customers under all conditions of urgency.
