Job overview

The  Community Store Technician will be responsible for ordering, receiving and processing the medical and surgical stores within Children Community Nursing team , 

The post holder will provide a delivery, installation and collection service of community equipment /stock to patients and will Decontaminate, inspect and store equipment following Infection & Protection Policy and Processes

Use a range of effective communication skills with clients, carers, other health care professionals, social services and voluntary organisations to share information. Instruct patients, carers and families on the safe use of equipment. Perform admin tasks to cover for colleagues during annual leave or sickness etc including ORACLE ordering .

This post holder will be based in the children Community nursing Team office and deliver all equipment /stock for Children and Young people and their families to their homes or placements , this role will be a flexible role to ensure deliveries can be delivered  during the working week  as per needs of the families .  Planning  and organising is a key aspect and ensuring the  most effective route when delivering equipment/stock .

Driving is an essential part of this role .

Main duties of the job

Be responsible for ordering Medical/Surgical sundries, as and when is required. Ensuring that items are ordered on the appropriate date. Maintaining adequate stock levels to meet the Community needs. Prioritise orders and deliveries as per community  needs.

Organise the delivery of all stock and equipment to the families homes 

Ensure appropriate storage of all stock within the CCN stock rooms 

Resolve stock issues, including stock deficiency, damaged goods and unclear orders using own initiative

Keep invoices and documentation correctly filed.

Check items on selves/cupboards  are used within strict date rotation.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will provide a delivery  and collection service of community equipment  and stock to children and their families  in their homes . 

Ensuring  store equipment follow Infection & Protection Policy and Processes. Arrange collection and servicing of medical devises back to the clinical engineering team and then returning to community .

Ensure the safe delivery of all stock and supplies to families in a timely manner and  ensuring stock control is maintained within the service in accordance with the needs .

The post holder will work under the lone worker policy in the community ,

The role is mainly driving  to deliver and collect stock for the children community nursing service and their families

will be responsible for ordering, receiving and processing the medical and surgical stores within Paediatrics, through appropriate ordering, using the Oracle ordering system. The post holder will also be responsible for the cleanliness and accessibility of each stock area. The post holder will be responsible in supervising and supporting the health care assistants in maintaining stock levels and cleanliness of the unit. 

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
