Job overview

We are looking for an individual to be responsible for the management of the Endoscopy Decontamination Service but will also support the Hospital Sterilisation and Disinfection Unit (HSDU) based at ESH. This person will report to the Decontamination and Sterile Services General Manager and will support the Production Manager HSDU, Supervisors, Senior Technicians – Technicians and drivers, assist in the delivery of the training, strengthen the organization and improve customer care.   

To manage the day to day running of the Endoscopy department and to support  the Production Manager HSDU, Supervisors, Senior Technicians – Technicians and drivers, assist in the delivery of the training, strengthen the organization and improve customer care.   

 

Main duties of the job

This will be an opportunity for you to be exposed to the responsibilities of a Production Manager and will require strong leadership skills. A Management qualification is essential and ideally you should hold Chartered membership of the Institute of Decontamination Sciences or be working towards it.

The Units provides sterile services and decontamination of flexible endoscopes from  East Surrey Hospital. You will have had at least 3 years managerial and technical experience within this field or very closely associated industry. Experience in maintaining a Quality Systems and ensuring compliance with it.

The successful applicant will have direct contact with health professionals and visitors, so a good standard of written and spoken English, communication and customer care skills are essential.

Applicants should have an adaptable, flexible approach to work and be able to demonstrate they can work very well within a team as well as being able to use their own initiative.

The senior Management team work a 1 in 3 weeks on call to support the team 24/7 across the decontamination service.

We are open to exploring individual’s undertaking as a training and development progression opportunity, where by the successful candidate will be remunerated at a Band 5 and undertake agreed competencies for 12 to 18 months to achieve Band 6 status.
