Job overview
The Countywide Adult Speech & Language Therapy Team is looking for a newly qualified Speech & Language Therapist to join our friendly and supportive department. You will be a motivated and active team member with excellent communication skills. This post provides an exciting opportunity to develop skills and knowledge across a general adult community caseload as well as specialist skills in stroke rehabilitation. The post involves sessions within the acclaimed Northamptonshire Community Stroke Team and Community clinics. |
Main duties of the job
The post holder will independently manage a caseload receiving and accessing support and supervision from senior colleagues and will be part of the Community Stroke Team helping provide assessment and specialist rehabilitation to patients across the county in their own homes.
You will be assigned a mentor and aim to complete your NQP competencies within the first year. We promote attendance at bi-monthly countywide adult SLT meetings and specialist clinical forums. All staff are encouraged to become members of Special Interest Groups and we have a strong culture of clinical supervision.
Ideally you will have relevant undergraduate experience of working in the acute setting and have a keen interest in dysphagia and communication impairment within the acute and community settings. In-house dysphagia training and competencies will be provided, with the opportunity to complete an accredited post graduate Dysphagia Course.

Working for our organisation
NHFT is an integrated primary care and mental health Trust, providing physical, mental health and specialty services in both hospital settings and out in the community. Because we put the person at the centre of all we do, we focus on delivering care that is as easy to access as possible. This means many of our services can be provided at home, work or in schools. We also provide health services to various prisons and detention centres in Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire.
NHFT promotes a culture of learning to improve the care and safety of our patients and staff, which focuses on people who enable our Trust to be ‘outstanding’ by supporting opportunity, innovation, development and growth.
