We have an exciting opportunity to join our Acute Inpatient Therapies Team at Kettering General Hospital

We are seeking a motivated and dynamic Band 4 Therapy Assistant Practitioner. You should have excellent communication skills and a commitment to providing high quality, evidence-based care for our patients across the 7-day service.

  • Integrated therapies working on acute inpatient orthopaedic, respiratory and medical wards
  • Supporting the high exciting profile our therapies team hold within the acute trust
  • Support Workforce development forum
  • Established competency-based learning programme

Therapies will offer:

Regular training opportunities,  as identified as part of the appraisal process.

Regular Formal supervision

Formal Appraisals and Reviews

Therapy Professional Development Forum to support your development.

If you are successful in your application for this position your commencement date will coincide with the Trust’s Induction programme held on a monthly basis. Attendance on the full induction programme is a mandatory requirement prior to starting in the work area. Therefore, if parts of this induction fall outside of the normal contracted hours of duty for this position, you will be requested to make arrangements to enable you to fully attend the Induction.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

You will manage and prioritise your own case load independently, assessing and treating patients with a wide variety of conditions.

You will also assist in assessing and carrying out specific rehabilitation programmes for clients with more complex needs, so improving their quality of life.

You should have the ability to work alone as well as within a team. Good written and verbal communication skills are essential.

This post is for 36.75 hour per week,  the postholder will be expected to work across 7 days.

WHO WE ARE:

  • Our Acute Hospital Therapy Team is a rapidly developing, innovative team providing high-quality assessment and treatment, beginning in A&E, MAU and Urgent Care areas, following patients through to the Medical wards, Trauma and Orthopaedic wards and Surgical wards.
  • You will work as a Therapy Assistant Practitioner and report to the , Head of Therapies.

WHERE WE ARE:

  • Kettering offers great access to all the beautiful Northamptonshire countryside. It has excellent road and rail network links to and from London, the East Midlands and Birmingham and the hospital is just off the A14 giving easy access to the M1.

Qualifications

  • Minimum NVQ level III or equivalent relevant to Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy
Meini prawf dymunol
  • Associate member of the CSP or RCOT
  • Foundation level degree or equivalent – subject must be relevant to physiotherapy/occupational therapy
  • Qualification in Anatomy & Physiology

Knowledge/Experience

  • Good working experience within ward-based healthcare gathered over a reasonable period of time.
  • Experience of working with a broad range of ages
  • Evidence of appropriate competencies at Assistant or Assistant Practitioner level within Therapy or healthcare.
  • Working knowledge of Excel & Word Computer programmes
  • Ability to work across a 7-day service
  • In-Depth knowledge and understanding of the Therapy role within the In-Patient Team

  • Previous NHS experience
  • Work within a community based setting
  • Previous manual handling experience
  • Past responsibility for training/supervising other support staff.
  • Evidence of responsibility for work processes e.g. Health & Safety checks.
  • Recent working experience, preferably as a Therapy Assistant level within an in-patient setting.
  • Knowledge of local discharge pathways.
