Job overview

Our county-wide Norfolk & Waveney Perinatal Community Mental Health service are excited to be continuing to expand and are looking to recruit an additional Perinatal Clinical Nurse Specialist. This is an opportunity to work within a specialist multi-disciplinary setting, which offers a wide range of MDT clinical specialisms. We are looking for someone who has excellent clinical skills, experience in clinical leadership and a passion for mental health. It is an exciting time to be working in the perinatal world as the services are rapidly expanding, there are opportunities for additional training and service development.

You will be part of a multidisciplinary team consisting of Consultant Psychiatrists, Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Therapies team, Case Managers, Social Workers, Peer Support Workers, Nursery Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Community Team Managers, and a Service Manager specialising in perinatal mental health.   

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist you will provide clinical leadership to the team. You will also work closely with our Community Team Manager and provide operational support for the team as needed. You will hold a small case load of more complex cases as well as be leading on projects to further develop and enhance the service we provide.

Knowledge of Maternity and Health Visiting services is desirable but not essential.

 

Main duties of the job

The job role with consist of the following, but is not limited to;

  • Accepting and triaging all new referrals received by the team.
  • To communicate /liaise effectively with relevant referring partners and other agencies.
  • Arranging and carrying out initial assessments.
  • Offering time to support the wider team with visits where specialist knowledge could be required
  • Being part of the wider Senior Leadership Team and encouraging evidence based changes and processes across the service.
  • Supporting staff with advice for duty calls during working hours and putting in place appropriate actions to address identified risks.
  • To ensure that any identified immediate risks are appropriately responded to and a proportionate risk management strategy is actioned, with input from the multidisciplinary team members.
  • Keeping up to date with relevant perinatal research and news to share with the wider team
  • Offering caseload supervision to case managers
