The deputy safeguarding children lead will be responsible for providing specialist, complex and sensitive advice and guidance to staff across GMMH in regard to Safeguarding Children in line with national and local Safeguarding Children Policies. In addition to this, the post holder will be expected to influence, develop and participate in staff and student training and policy development.
The role will be key in embedding culture and practice in relation to Safeguarding Children, ensuring statutory and locally agreed procedures are followed, Trust requirements for incident reporting are met, and all relevant procedures are co-ordinated and adhered to.

· To continually review processes, procedures, materials for suitability and effectiveness, and seek to evolve and improve performance through sharing best practice and innovation.· To ensure all incidents within administration and performance teams are reviewed, managed and actions plans to address are developed. · Maintain an open and honest culture where all staff are aware of expectations and are able to put forward and develop ideas for service improvement. · Manage risks and issues relating the quality measures, escalating risks and appropriate. · To actively engage in service improvement by reflecting on and developing own practice. · To give constructive feedback regarding the improvement of services to the appropriate person(s). · Develop/update network wide policies and procedures in relation to new ways of working. · To lead organisational change activities including consultations on contentious issues. · To have responsibility for entering, contributing and maintaining confidential records such as the risk management system and patient administration systems
