We are seeking a motivated band 4 or 5 GPhC registered pharmacy technician to join our friendly Aseptic Services Team

Band 4 applicants: This is an exciting opportunity to provide the right candidate career progression through a conversion process to Band 5 after full training and successful completion of competencies.  

  • Band 4 applicants do not need aseptic experience as full training will be provided but must be qualified with the GPhC. 

Band 5 applicants: 

  • Band 5 applicants must possess substantial experience in Aseptic Technical Services and have excellent knowledge of GMP.

Main duties of the job

Band 4

To carry out pharmaceutical technical duties mainly in the aseptic service of the pharmacy service. To provide an efficient and comprehensive Pharmaceutical Service to meet departmental and corporate objectives. Specific duties, where indicated will be carried out under the supervision of senior colleagues.

Band 5

Responsible for assisting the Senior Technician in the day to day running of the Aseptic Services Unit Cytotoxic, PN and CIVA Service.

To organise the safe and efficient production of aseptically prepared products. Supervising a team whilst ensuring GMP, COSHH and local and trust procedures are adhered to. Team Leading and training of staff including observations to provide evidence of GMP compliance.

Essential criteria
  • Registered or eligible to register with The General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience in hospital or community pharmacy
  • Awareness of the duties involved in the post
  • A basic working knowledge of pharmaceutical practice
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience in Aseptic Services/Technical Services
  • A good working knowledge of current aseptic standards.

Qualification

Essential criteria
  • BTEC National Certificate in Pharmacy Services and NVQ level 3 Pharmacy Services. Or the recognised equivalent to the above
