Job overview

Ward A5 at the Wythenshawe site of Manchester Foundation trust are currently looking to recruit a Band 7 Ward Manager to our trauma and orthopedic ward, with the special interest in fractured neck of femur patients.

Our Trauma and Orthopedic department has a reputation for the highest standards of clinical care.
We are looking for a suitably experienced nurse and leader who is passionate about patient safety and the delivery of exceptional quality care to trauma and orthopedic patients and those  who require emergency surgery and post op care.

Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and highly motivated individual to undertake the role of Ward Manager within Ward A5 Trauma and Orthopedics.

Ward A5 is a 28 bedded trauma and orthopedic ward, with a special interest in patients with fractured neck of femur.

A successful individual must be highly motivated to take on this challenge and meet head on the pressure to maintain high standards and delivery of quality care, whilst leading the nursing team. 

The post holder will manage all aspects of clinical standards and professional practice within the service and will manage and coordinate staff budget resources and the environment.  You will help shape future services working and supporting the Matron and Lead Nurse within the Clinical Service Unit.  

To apply for this post you must have substantial experience as a Band 6 with surgical experience. You must have excellent communication  and strong leadership skills to uphold the standards and values of the trust.

  • Substantial experience at Band 6 Grade in acute hospital setting.
  • Evidence of good organisational and planning skills
  • Recent evidence of continuing professional and personal development
  • Implementation of audit / research recommendations
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Experience of change management
Desirable criteria
  • Teaching or Lecturing internal or external venues

Qualifications

  • Registered Practitioner on relevant part of professional register (RGN)
