Job overview
Co-ordinate the processing of new patient tertiary referrals/ERS, escalating any potential delays in offering appointments within agreed timeframes to the Directorate Support Manager
Importing images and other test results from other Trusts
Liaising with GP’s regarding referral/results to ensure that the minimum data set is recorded on the PAS
Co-ordinate the outcoming of clinics/patients attending clinics appropriately
Please note the vacancy is to be based at Wythenshawe Hospital and not NMGH.
Main duties of the job
Provide an efficient administrative service to the Infectious Disease Team at Wythenshawe Hospital. Co-ordinate all new referrals into the team. Liaise with other Trusts to obtain test results and imaging.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Dealing with all patients and their relatives/carers in a caring and professional manner, providing admission/appointment information where appropriate.
- Dealing with the waiting lists of the Consultant / clinical team as and when required.
- Assisting with the monitoring and maintaining waiting lists in conjunction with trust targets
- Assisting the clinical teams i.e. Consultants/Nurses/Physio’s and other clinical teams with their enquiries as and when required
- Undertaking routine clerical duties and any other tasks relevant to the role as requested as and when required.
- Follow departmental Standard Operation Procedures (SOP’s).
- Follow the Trust’s OP DNA policy, taking into account any departmental guidelines.
- Assisting with the induction and training of new staff to the department including medical staff.
- Complying with the Data Protection Act and Caldicott guidelines in relation to confidential data.
- Cross cover of colleagues and co-ordination of leave in line with the dept/divisional arrangements.
- Attendance at training events that may be relevant in the execution of your duties.
- The post-holder may be required to take informal minutes.
- The post-holder may be expected to actively participate in department audits by data gathering or sorting as and when required.

Education/ Qualifications
Essential criteria
- General education to GCSE standard.
- Evidence of further development.
Desirable criteria
- A Levels or equivalent knowledge
Experience
Essential criteria
- Previous healthcare experience
- Previous admin experience in an outpatient area
- Experience of working as part of a team
- Experience of working with Trust’s policies and procedures
Desirable criteria
- Experience using HIVE
Skills

- Good oral and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritise and organize
- Good organisational skills
- People person.
- Advanced keyboard skills
