Are you looking to develop managerial and leadership experience in a small, established service?

We are seeking a dynamic, highly motivated individual who is committed to providing a high-quality service. As a registered professional you will have experience of caring for people with mental health problems and / or have a learning disability.

The Sutton and Merton Community Mental Health Learning Disability Team provides a service to adults with a learning disability who are experiencing mental health problems and have needs that can not be met by mainstream mental health services.

You will be part of a small and friendly multidisciplinary team working with colleagues who are experts in the field and are dedicated to improving health outcomes for individuals with learning disabilities. The multidisciplinary team includes Psychiatrists, Nurses, Psychologists and a Recovery Support Worker. Care co-ordination is provided to a small number of service users. The team members work collaboratively with other borough-based services and colleagues. It is an exciting time to join us and contribute to service development

Applications from candidates currently working in a Band 6 role and looking to develop managerial skills are encouraged.

The post holder will be responsible for:

·       The clinical management of the Mental Health Learning Disability Team. 

·       Working in conjunction with staff of all disciplines to provide seamless, safe and comprehensive services

·       Line manage all staff (excluding doctors) in the aforementioned services, providing guidance and supervision to staff

·       Championing the Trust Recovery and Social Inclusion strategy in the services.

·       Managing allocated resources.

·       Maintaining clinical involvement with the team in conjunction with senior team members, providing guidance and supervision to staff working with people with complex mental health/learning disability & challenging behaviour.

·       Ensuring that appropriate professional advice and consultation is available and sought to ensure all patients receive appropriate multi-disciplinary treatment.

About our location:

The team is based in Jubilee Health Centre East, Wallington. Wallington is a leafy suburb,  10 miles South West of Central London, easily accessed by public and private transport. There is also a base in Wilson Hospital, Mitcham for Merton residents.

·         Responsible for the smooth and effective operational management and co-ordination of the service.

 

·         Enhance systems for the management of referrals are in place for each service, ensuring as fast and appropriate response to referrers is provided consistently, as well as short a waiting time from referral to treatment is achieved.

 

·         Ensure comprehensive liaison and feedback to GP’s and primary care referrers.

 

·         Work in close partnership with all staff in the services to actively promoting team working.

 

·         Have regular co-ordination meetings with each service’ staff team to ensure that the separate elements of team accountabilities are fully addressed with particular attention to risk management.

 

·         Hold full managerial responsibility for all individual service staff members (excluding the doctors) ensuring the various disciplines work within an agreed operational policy and providing support and consultation in the process.

 

·         Work closely with Consultant Psychiatrists in each service, to ensure that all medically qualified members of the team adhere to operational policies and fully engage in the multi-disciplinary process.

 

·         Manage and supervise the administrative functions of the team and support administrative staff of each service in conjunction with admin leads.

 

·         Ensure that all performance information identified as necessary is collected according to the timescale required.

 

·         Carry through all agreed procedures regarding staff disciplinary and sickness absence arrangements for Trust as appropriate to the level of the post. To work with other Managers and professional heads of discipline where required to process these issues.

 

·         Promote the Trust’s Equal Opportunities strategy and implement procedures to further this process.

  • Evidence of continuing professional and personal development
  • Hold a valid Registration with a professional body (HCPC or NMC)

  • Project Management qualification e.g. PRINCE2 foundation level

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience of managing and monitoring budgets
