Job overview

The post is intended to help improve outcomes for neonates by providing continuity
of in-service provision and improved quality care.
Practising within clinical protocols, the Advanced Nurse Practitioner will work
alongside the Neonatal medical team in providing care to premature or sick newborn
babies requiring intensive care, high-dependency and special care under direct or
indirect supervision and guidance from Paediatric Specialist Registrar and/ or
Consultant Neonatologist. 

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, motivated, flexible, hardworking, positive thinking and experienced neonatal nurse to assist in the delivery of high-quality and safe care for all our babies and their families.

the successful applicant will join our dedicated team of which includes Neonatologists, Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioners Clinical Nurse Specialists including neonatal community outreach service and a dedicated Education Team who provide clinical training and support within the neonatal unit.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our excellent neonatal team here at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust (BHRUT) our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is one of the biggest and busiest Level 2 units in London, we care for babies born at 27 weeks gestation and take pride in providing the perfect environment in which these tiny neonates can grow, thrive and develop.

The unit comprise of total babies of 32 cots, 3 intensive cots, 8 high dependency cots and 21 special care cots and manages an extensive range of medical cases within these culturally-diverse boroughs.

We have a dedicated Transitional care team to provide care for babies, who can be with mum in post natal ward. Here at BHRUT we have a dedicated and dynamic multidisciplinary team who maintain the highest quality and standards of care to our neonatal population.

In addition we also work closely with a highly motivated team of allied health professionals to provide excellent family centered and psychosocial care for our patients and families.  Here at BHRUT we focus our care and service delivery with PRIDE and we believe it’s about living our values: Passion, Responsibility, Innovation, Drive and Empowerment – the PRIDE at the heart of all we do.

 

 

Working for our organisation

We provide care for the residents of three diverse London boroughs. Most of our 7,800 permanent staff live in Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge and the majority are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups. We also provide healthcare services to people in south west Essex, and specialist neurosciences services to the whole of the county.

Our services include all the major specialties of large acute hospitals and we operate from two main sites - King George Hospital in Goodmayes and Queen’s Hospital in Romford. We have two of the busiest emergency departments in London – more than 300,000 people visited our A&Es in 2023. We also provide outpatient services at Brentwood Community Hospital, Barking Community Hospital, Loxford Polyclinic, and Harold Wood Polyclinic.

We’re pleased to be leading the way in reducing the time our patients wait to get the treatment they need. The Elective Surgical Hub at King George Hospital is one of eight to be accredited as part of a national scheme; the Care Quality Commission has raised the ratings for urgent and emergency care at Queen’s and King George hospitals; and data released by NHS England showed that the Trust was the most improved in 2023 for reducing waits for emergency care.

We are particularly proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre; Radiotherapy Centre; Hyper Acute Stroke Unit; and dedicated breast care service at King George Hospital. We’re also part of the North East London Cancer Alliance.

  • Neonatal qualification QIS and NLS.
  • Completed ANNP Course
Desirable criteria
  • completed NIPE course.
  • Leadership and Management Course.
  • MSc in Advanced Neonatal Nursing Practice

EXPERIENCE/ KNOWLEDGE

Essential criteria
  • Have minimum of 2 years’ experience as ANNPin level 2/3 NICU.
