Clinical and Care Professional Leads support south east London-wide and borough programmes of work, therefore, there is an expectation that you currently work within south east London, and for borough based roles, within that borough.

NB: Please be advised that here are 2 roles - one is 2 sessions a week and one is 3 sessions a week. One role would focus on general practice (3 sessions per week), while the other would focus on community pharmacy, dental and optometry, and social care (2 sessions per week). Please state your preference on your application form.

The postholder will be a Digital Transformation Clinical Lead within a team of clinical leads and through the CCPL programme for the South East London (SEL) ICB. This role will align to the organisational digital objectives and seek to drive the development and implementation of the departmental strategy within SEL Digital team. There will be a clear focus on digital transformation and the co-ordination of the delivery of efficiency in collaboration with SEL and the six boroughs.

1.  Contribute to the development and implementation of the Digital Strategy for SEL and the Primary Care Digital Delivery Plan.

2.    Promote innovation and champion the development of a digital culture as an enabler of change and quality improvement and drive continuous clinical process improvement focused on patient outcomes and efficiency.

3.    Identify, share and explore opportunities to improve patient pathways through digital enablement including across care sector and organisational boundaries.

4.     Identify and mitigate risks from digital solutions from a primary care clinical perspective.

5.    Ensure there is alignment between local digital plans and the ICS plans.

6.    Ensure digital solutions support better patient care, achieve clinical user requirements and system efficiencies. 

7.    Keep up to date with new technologies that support clinical transformation and the SEL ICS clinical deliverables.

8.    Undertake consultation with primary care stakeholders in the design, delivery and evaluation of digital solutions. This may include patients, carers, clinicians, technical and programme teams and best practice groups.

9.    Represent SEL, as and when required

10. Be the Clinical Safety Officer for digital solutions, and support the development, implementation and continuation of a Clinical Safety Officer community of practice for South East London.

Our approach to digital change and transformation adopts a number of core principles to ensure equity of access to digital for all patients and our SEL workforce. The purpose of the role is to provide both strategic and clinical leadership to the primary care digital transformation programmes at an SEL level. With a focus on care pathways, SEL digital service delivery team aims to ensure patients receive the right care at the right time, by limiting barriers to digital adoption and focusing on improving digital inclusion for SEL patients. 

The postholder should have experience and expertise as a Clinical Safety Officer and will be expected to lead the clinical risk assessments of digital solutions.

Qualification and Training

  • GMC registration and inclusion on the GP Register (and working in a practice in the South East London Integrated Care System)
  • Clinical Safety Officer Training
  • Training in user-centred design, or a demonstrated understanding of the same
  • Track record of developing innovative ways to improve patient care and experience of service and pathway redesign
  • Understand the challenges of health inequalities and principles of identifying and addressing these
  • Experience working on programmes and projects in general practice, community pharmacy, optometry, dental and/or social care.
