This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the largest and most successful integrated care NHS Trust’s in the UK, with a team of 9,000 dedicated staff. We serve a wonderfully diverse population of over a million people in North west London and across the boroughs of Brent, Harrow, and Ealing.

As part of the restructuring of acute medical services at Ealing we are looking for candidates to join our team.  Acute Medicine has a dynamic and enthusiastic team of acute physicians based at Ealing.  The department has a well-deserved reputation for excellence in teaching and training.

The Acute Medical Unit is a 30-bedded ward. Two acute consultants are based on the ward during normal working hours. This post holder, as well as colleagues from acute medicine and the Integrated Medicine Division support the team by supervising the acute medical take, The Ealing medical take is approximately 35-40 per day.  This postholder will have a two PA commitment to the on-call acute medical take.

The Ealing Medical SDEC unit is co-located with the Acute Frailty Service.  The department is now seeing upwards of 200 patients per week, approximately 40% of the medical take.

We recognize that our Acute Medicine Service must continue to evolve to meet the needs of our local community. We welcome applications from individuals who seek to innovate and introduce best practice.

Main duties of the job

All newly appointed consultants will be offered to join the Trust’s consultant induction programme.
