Job overview

Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust is an Academic Health Science Centre (AHSC) and the largest trust in the country. Our mission is to provide world class healthcare for our patients, through excellence in research, education and training. While the haematology directorate also operates as a  national tertiary centre treating patients with a wide-range of malignant and non-malignant haematology conditions that includes operating a large JACIE accredited blood and marrow transplant (BMT) programme (allogeneic, autologous and Car-T/cellular therapies). The haematology service operates with a total of 58 inpatient beds split across three haematology wards, two of which have dedicated transplant beds. There is also haematology out-patient and day care facilities that incorporates an ambulatory treatment pathway for low-risk transplants, apheresis team that supports stem cell collections and on-site cellular therapy laboratory facilities.  

 

Main duties of the job

Working closely with the Matron and Lead Nurse for Clinical Haematology, the post holder will be a key member of the senior nursing team and extended multi-professional team across the wider department. In addition, the Senior Charge Nurse will play an important  role in helping to develop and plan future services as the haematology department continues to evolve and expand, driving service improvement. You will need to be a highly motivated, dynamic and resilient individual who is able to deal with and respond to complex situations in a busy and demanding clinical service.

The Clinical Haematology service at Hammersmith Hospital offers all nurses a unique perspective and exciting breadth of experience in this specialty.
