Young Barts Health are looking for an experienced, dynamic, and ambitious Children’s Nurse to manage the Paediatric Assessment and Short Stay Units at the Royal London Hospital.  This newly combined unit aims to support the care of children with acute short-term illnesses, while utilising partnerships with the Children’s Hospital @ Home Team, the Paediatric Capacity management team and Paediatric clinicians.  This an exciting time in the development of the Children’s hospital and we are constantly evolving to include nurse led innovations and governance processes to support child and family centred care, working with our colleagues across Barts Health Sites and the wider Integrated Care Board (ICB).

The successful post holder will have a drive to improve the care of acutely unwell babies, children and young people and have a proven track record for innovation, managing people, compassion, and high-quality clinical care. They will be part of a supportive and ambitious peer group of ward managers and senior nurses who strive for quality and excellence at every level.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

The post holder will provide expert clinical leadership at ward level, setting and ensuring delivery of high standards of clinical care. The post holder will provide 24-hour accountability for the overall management of the ward, and the delivery of nursing care. Responsible for the management, deployment and supervision of registered and non-registered nursing staff, and the management of the budget. To lead the development of ward nursing practice and standards of care. Responsible for the education of patients, their families/carers, and staff.

The post holder will provide an element of co-ordination, working with the paediatric capacity team and the paediatric emergency department to support patient flow and the swift discharge of patients from PASSU and PAU. The post holder will have oversight of the day-to-day management of the Paediatric Assessment Unit (PAU) which also hosts the Paediatric Rapid Access Clinics and ‘Hot’ clinics.
