West London NHS Trust is delighted to announce the availability of a full-time substantive consultant liaison psychiatry post.

Based in West Middlesex University Hospital, the post offers an opportunity to work in a London teaching DGH. Hounslow Liaison Psychiatry Service has excellent relations with the hospital, a successful training program, and a record of service improvement and innovation.

The post-holder will join a settled, close-knit, well-led, PLAN-accredited team with 2 full-time consultants.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will work with the liaison service team manager and fellow consultants to provide clinical expertise to the team in assessing and managing patients in the hospital.

A key aim of the service and this role is to contribute to improving the overall care in the hospital. The post-holder will develop training for hospital teams and contribute to developing hospital systems to improve patient care. This is a priority for West London Trust and our acute trust partners.

Building relationships with colleagues in the acute trust is central to our success. Candidates should have strong communication skills and a record of building partnerships with a range of professionals.

The post-holder will be a member of the trust-wide liaison psychiatry senior management team, contributing to the broader strategic developments and clinical governance of the service.

The team boasts trainees at all grades, for whom all our consultants are clinical supervisors.

  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification

  • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management

Eligibility

Essential criteria
  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practice at the time of appointment
  • GMC Specialist Register or within six months
  • MHA Approved clinician status or able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
  • MHA Section 12(2) Approval
  • Good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice

Clinical Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Experience working in a range of liaison psychiatry services with excellent knowledge of speciality
  • Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA
Desirable criteria
  • Wide range of specialist experience relevant to post in NHS or comparable service
