The Trust operates and relies on everyone treating each other with dignity and respect, to receive equitable and fair treatment in the implementation of Policies, Procedures and in its Practices, to foster positive work relationships, and finally to act with integrity as a professional within ESNEFT as well as a representative of the NHS as a whole. The EDI Agenda reflects the Trust values such as Optimistic, Appreciative and Kind. In line with the NHS Long Term Plan, People Plan, People Promise and a Model Employer intrinsic in the Equality Diversity and Inclusion Agenda, we consistently strive to improve, to take the learning into Action for a better ESNEFT.
If you are passionate about patient care and want to develop your skills and knowledge then we are keen to hear from you.
Job overview
Due to maternity leave cover an exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Acute Stroke Service at Ipswich Hospital. This fixed term/secondment is full time, for 12 months, commencing on or around 24th June 2024.
You would work alongside the Clinical Specialist, and Specialist OT with the rest of the team, providing acute assessment and treatment in line with the Royal College of Physicians 2023 guidelines SSNAP Key Indicators, which includes early mobilisation and intensity targets.
Our stroke unit has 4 HASU beds and 24 ASU beds, and there is a strong MDT working ethos with daily board rounds to ensure timely assessments, inputs and discharge planning.
Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy work in an integrated manner, closely alongside the rest of the MDT. We also support the MDT stroke follow up clinic every week, for recent discharged patients. Groups run every day and we regularly have the support of the Rehabilitation Assistants to help deliver opportunity to practice during the in-patient care.
Sound clinical skills, good organisation and ability to work over weekends are all advantageous. Full support and team-work makes this a suitable opportunity for someone looking to upskill into the Band 7 role, or to return to the field of stroke care after working elsewhere.
