Spire Hartswood Hospital is a 49 bed hospital with 4 theatres and offers a comprehensive range of services and facilities including Spire Specialist Care Centre in Chelmsford. This is a brand new cancer center delivering care for cancer patients receiving chemotherapy and radiotherapy and all manner of supportive care. It is part of a network of over 20 cancer treatment sites across Spire Healthcare.

Job purpose:

You will form part of an already established, professional, friendly theatre team, provide and maintain a high quality of perioperative care for patients undergoing in-patient & day case surgery.

To support the management and organisation of care provision in the operating theatre.

Main responsibilities:

To confidently undertake theatre practitioner responsibilities;

Assess patient’s health and well being across a complex and changing caseload.

Assist in the delivery of care to meet patient’s health and wellbeing.

Provide and receive complex, sensitive or contentious information.

Develop own knowledge and skills and that of others.

Promotes best practice in health and safety and security.

Assist in maintaining and developing services.

Contribute to quality improvement.

Promote people’s equality, diversity and rights

Apply technology for measurement, monitoring and treatment.

Acknowledge the risk of Healthcare Associated Infections (HCAI) and understand own responsibility as agreed with line manager in the prevention and control of HCAI.

Experience: Previous Theatre practitioner experience in one or more specialism, enabling you to provide exemplary planned care for patients requiring operative procedures which could include day case, minor op’s or major surgery within your area of expertise & experience.

Knowledge & Technical Ability; Post registration professional development related to work area

Behaviours; flexible, adaptable, good team player, enthusiastic & able to fit into a small team

Hours – either Full or Part time (no less than 42 hours per month)

Shift pattern - worked over 4 – 5 days per week, one of which is a Saturday (07.30 – 16.30) though this will be alternate weeks

This role has an on call commitment up to weekly

Salary – up to £31,551 pro rata dependant on experience
