An exciting opportunity has arisen for a newly qualified or existing Band 5 Occupational Therapist to join the Secure Outreach and Transitions Team (SOTT). This role will support people with a learning disability and/or Autism to develop the necessary skills to return into the community, as part of our inpatient forensic rehabilitation services (Oakwood and Langley).
- Oakwood is a forensic rehabilitation unit. It is situated in a residential area of Middlesbrough and caters for up to 8 adult males who have a learning disability and/or autism. The residents are all detained under the Mental Health Act and have usually been referred from Secure Inpatient Services. They will be supported to develop life skills with the intention of living a meaningful and fulfilling life in the community.
- Langley ward is an inpatient forensic rehabilitation ward located in Lanchester Road Hospital, in Durham. We support patients to take responsibility for managing their own risks in the least restrictive environment and to work towards living more independently in the community upon discharge, with the appropriate level of support.
We are looking for an Occupational Therapist who can work flexibly to meet service need and has the vision, energy and inspiration to develop creative, imaginative solutions to delivering occupational therapy with people who have a learning disability and/or autism in an inpatient rehabilitation setting.
