Set in the heart of the main site at Torbay and South Devon Foundation Trust HSDU provides Trustwide Decontamination services across the Hospital and the wider South Devon community.
The HSDU Quality Manager will work within the Planned Care - Surgery Care Group, supporting the Head of HSDU and maintaining department accreditation to ISO 13485 along with UKCA Compliance.
- Responsibility for the day to day management, delivery and development of a number of services across HSDU including, but not limited to ensuring all equipment is maintained and documentation kept up to date.
- Leading the team to ensure staff competencies and training is kept up to date
- Supporting project plans and preparation of business cases, ensuring all services deliver a high standard of care which is efficient;
- Work with the Head of HSDU to ensure delivery of best value services.
- To have responsibility for workforce to ensure that all staff are appropriately line managed, supervised and supported in accordance with the relevant policies of the employing agencies and best practice
- As part of this post you would have responsibility as a management representative for HSDU deputising for the Head of HSDU in their absence.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining the Quality Management system based on IS0 13485. Day to day duties are varied and can cover anything from arranging servicing and repairs to supporting and managing staff to audits to chairing management review meetings.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Key Responsibilities include:
To support the provision of a specialised decontamination department service contributing to the clinical care of the patient.
Develops and prepares draft protocols/procedures for the department including new equipment / processes ensuring compliance to the UKCA regulation of Medical Devices , and Quality Management Systems 13485: 2016. To participate in the internal/external audit process and action any non-conformities in a timely manner.
To manage staff adherence to the department’s standard operating procedures through routine quality checks and follow up with corrective actions. To collate/present data for discussion. To provide and communicate appropriate highly complex technical/scientific and sensitive advice to users (nursing and non-clinical) of the service, relating to the service provision. To act as the management representative for the department when required.

Relevant Experience, qualifications, training and membership
Essential criteria
- Relevant Management Experience, at least two years and above
- Degree Or Equivalent Level of Education
- Decontamination qualification e.g. Technical Certificate/HTM Manager course/Endoscope Decontamination Manager Course
- Evidence of other specialist management training to diploma level or the equivalent level of experience i
- Evidence of continued professional development
- Member of a Professional Decontamination Body (IDSc, CSC, NPAG)
Desirable criteria
- Chartered Membership to IDSC
- Lead/internal audit qualified (13485:2016 preferable)
