An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist to work within Forensic and Rehabilitation Services.

This is a split post between Kedleston Unit is a low secure unit and Cherry Tree Close an open rehabilitation unit.  These are settings where the contribution of psychology is valued by other clinicians and management. As a key member of a multi-disciplinary team you will be able to combine direct clinical work, supervision, training, consultation, research and service evaluation/ development.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and appreciative of the challenges of working with difficult to engage clients with complex mental health needs and forensic histories. You will be committed to multidisciplinary team working, have excellent relationship building skills and be capable of managing varied work demands.

You would be joining a growing forensic service which is part of a large, Derbyshire-wide supportive Clinical Psychology service where there are excellent opportunities.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

You will be responsible for autonomously providing inpatient highly specialist clinical psychology services, in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, for adults with a wide range of mental health problems and forensic histories.

You will  work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of team policies and procedures.

You will be responsible for offering advice, consultation and training to  the multidisciplinary team, other  colleagues, and non-professional  carers, on matters related to the psychological needs and issues relevant to the service and its users.

You will supervise assistants, and psychologists during their postgraduate training and other psychologists as appropriate.

Qualifications

Meini prawf hanfodol
  • Post–graduate doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996 or those in lateral transfer) as accredited by the B.P.S./HCPC
  • Registered as a Practitioner Psychologist by the HCPC
  • Chartered status of B.P.S.
  • Able to demonstrate post qualification specialist training/experience through having provided assessment/intervention to people with severe and enduring mental health problems including older people with personality disorder and complex trauma under clinical supervision whilst working as a Specialist Clinical Psychologist..

  • Training in DBT Training in CFT Training in Structured Risk Assessment

Experience

  • Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients in secure settings
  • Experience of working with people with range of mental health problems..
  • Evidence of taking full clinical responsibility for clients with a range of mental health problems and severity, within the context of multi-disciplinary care.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Assessment and therapeutic skills related to complex, severe and enduring Mental Health Problems
  • Awareness of, and ability to assess and manage risk
  • Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management, frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.
  • Ability to identify clinical governance issues and contribute to the improvement of standards and practice
  • Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology
