Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic Clinical Support Worker to support the Radiology service at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary. 

Applicants will be expected to be well organised, have an interest in patient care, good communication skills and familiarity with IT systems. Ideally you will have experience of relevant work in a healthcare environment and have a Level 3 NVQ or equivalent in healthcare. 

Main duties of the job

The duties will mainly involve supporting the Radiologists, Radiographers and Radiology Nurses in clinical duties in CT, MRI, Ultrasound and the Radiology Day Care Unit and will include supporting in sterile procedures and carrying out venepuncture and cannulation.

You will also be involved in the smooth and efficient running of these services including some admin and clerical duties, for example making appointments on the computerised Radiology Information System and liaising with wards for in-patient appointments.  

You will be required to work Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, on a varied, three week rota which will include 0830 - 1700; 0730 - 1530 & 1200 - 2000 shifts on rotation.  There may be a requirement to work some weekends on occasion undertaking a 0730-2030 shift.  Bank Holidays are shared out with all staff.

Working for our organisation

We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Our community services for adults are provided in people’s homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals and our main hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent, improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care, advice and support.
