Advanced Clinical Practitioner - Hospital At Night

NHS AfC : Band 8a

Job overview

Advanced Clinical Practitioner, up to 37.5 hours per week available working nightshift. Full time and part time will be considered

Hospital at night is a multidisciplinary approach to delivering care at night with the aim of improving patient safety. It involves medical and nursing staff working together to provide a team that delivers patient care over many disciplines in the hospital.

We are looking to appoint dynamic and forward-thinking Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACP) to lead our already established team of band 7 tACPs. This is an opportunity to join an organisation in which clinicians are at the forefront of management.

Main duties of the job

The Hospital at Night ACP will:

  • lead the team of trainee ACPs
  • be an experienced healthcare practitioner with proven strong and visible leadership skills who will support the Hospital at Night service, assisting in coordinating and reviewing the service with management and appropriate personnel.
  • work as a competent advanced clinical practitioner supporting the medical teams whilst further developing their own advanced clinical assessment skills, including assessment of patients, diagnostic skills and enhanced understanding of investigations.
  • demonstrate safe, critical decision-making in the clinical decision-making process and will work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary team to meet the needs of patients, supporting the delivery of policy and procedure.
  • work to ensure wherever possible that junior medical staff are enabled to meet their training and development requirements. Local requirements for advanced clinical practice must be met or worked towards.
  • lead, manage and develop an identified group of H@N Assistant Practitioners and  act as a role model and mentor, being responsible for the supervision and ensuring a positive learning experience and facilitating the development of their clinical skills.
  • contribute positively towards the delivery of a cost effective service, adjusting staffing levels to meet demand, and assisting Matron to keep within agreed resources
