Regional Practice Education Facilitator – AHP Mental Health services

Band 7

Job overview

We currently have two exciting vacancies for Regional Practice Education Facilitators (PEFs) to work across Allied Health Profession services in the Southwest and North Wales regions. These roles are advertised as full-time (37.5 hours) Band 7 fixed-term or secondment opportunities for 18 months in the first instance. The posts are open to registered Allied Health Professionals with a background in education or clinical practice.

These are new roles to help shape a new programme of work. Post holders will work with the HEIW Head of Placement Experience and Improvement and HEIW leads involved in implementation of the Strategic Mental Health Workforce Plan for Health and Social Care (2022) to help support a motivated, engaged and valued, health and social care mental health workforce. Post holders will help advance Workforce Plan ambitions to enable a broader range of multi-disciplinary training and clinical placements in mental health settings.

Engaging with HEIW, Welsh Universities, mental health service leads, practice learning environment staff, Health Boards, and wider stakeholders, post holders will lead on targeted expansion of practice learning opportunities for Allied Health Profession students within services across designated Welsh regions.

Main duties of the job

HEIW is seeking highly motivated, committed, creative individuals, who share an ambition to work collaboratively to help maximise the quality and availability of practice learning opportunities for Allied Health Profession students and continue to drive practice learning excellence across mental health services.

Although this post has been advertised as a fixed term appointment, NHS staff will be offered the appointment as a secondment. If you wish to apply as a secondment opportunity, you must have your line manager’s approval. This post may be extended or made permanent at the end of the fixed term/secondment period depending on available funding and business needs.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
