Job overview

The post holder will work closely with the Team Leader/Ward Sister/Charge Nurse, Deputy Team Leader/Deputy Ward Sister/Charge Nurse and multidisciplinary team members in monitoring and maintaining excellent clinical standards of nursing practice and staff development.

The post holder will be responsible for the continuing professional development and overall performance of staff by acting as a mentor and preceptor.

Where applicable, the post holder will take charge of the team/ward/department on a regular basis.

The post holder is expected to carry out all relevant and specialised forms of care without direct supervision and is required to demonstrate procedures, supervise registered and/or unregistered staff whilst maintaining a safe working environment

The post holder will be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and provide cover for any area specified.

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board are looking to recruit Registered Nurses to join our Nurse Bank. 

The post holder will be required to work closely with the ward and multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe and effective care for our patients. 

You will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care under indirect supervision from senior staff.

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse - Current NMC Registration
  • Nursing Degree/Diploma
  • Good basic level of English language demonstrated through effective written and verbal communication skills

Experience

  • Previous experience of working in a nursing environment

  • Depending on previous experience the candidate may be expected to supervise junior staff
