Our Cancer Directorate is inviting applications from ambitious experienced Nurses who are interested to enhance their experience, to lead the existing Clinical Nurse Specialists in Urology cancer as well as act as Key worker for Prostate cancer patients and provide Nurse led services.
You will be working in a multi-disciplinary team that provide Prostate Cancer diagnostic and treatment services. You will be influencing the care that they receive attending clinics and have a vital role in developing Nurse led prostate cancer diagnostic Service. You will be working closely with medical team and involved in service development.
You will demonstrate a high degree of knowledge of Prostate cancer care you will demonstrate proficiency in patient assessment and be able to have skilled and sensitive conversations. You will provide clinical leadership, influencing others to provide the highest levels of safe and effective care and a positive patient experience.

Main duties of the job
Manage and lead Prostate Cancer –non surgical service with responsibility for ensuring high quality, cost-effective healthcare
Manage and lead a workforce of Urology Cancer specialist nurses
Responsible for the assessment, planning, diagnosis implementation and evaluation of care, as an autonomous practitioner with highly specialist
Be involved in the strategic review of clinical services and development of services as appropriate
Be responsible for implementing a clearly defined integrated approach to patient care encompassing new treatments and evidence based care.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- RGN with a degree
- Post registration module in urology
- Advanced communication and Psychological assessment skills training.
- Advanced clinical assessment skills.
- Evidence of professional continuous development and portfolio of learning
- Leadership or management module
- Willingness & ability to work toward masters
- Willingness and ability to learn prostate biopsy.
Desirable criteria
- Non-medical prescriber
- Counselling qualification.
- Research Module
- Masters degree
- Teaching & mentoring qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant clinical experience as nurse specialist in Prostate cancer diagnosis and non surgical pathway.
- Significant experience is managing a specialist team.
- Experience in Roster planning and management.
- Experience in project management and service development.
- Evidence of leading service change.
- Experience in MDT management .
- Experience in conflict and complaint management.
Desirable criteria
- Practical experience of policy development
- Audit and Research experience
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Budget management.
- Understanding of external agencies and reporting needs.

- Recognised as an expert in the field of practice with the ability to clinically assess and diagnose.
