Clinical Nurse Specialist - Paediatric Surgery/Urology

Within children’s services at Cambridge University Hospitals the Department of Paediatric General Surgery/Urology is dedicated to providing specialist, professional care to our patients and their families in a welcoming and committed atmosphere. 

We are seeking to recruit a Clinical Nurse Specialist within the speciality of Paediatric Surgery/Urology.  In this role you will work as an independent practitioner and integral part of the team in order to provide a first class service.  Working alongside the Lead Clinical Nurse Specialist you will be responsible for coordinating a comprehensive, integrated, holistic service proving specialist clinical skills, expertise and leadership.

You will liaise with all relevant professional groups and agencies within and outside the Trust to enhance the delivery of care to children, young people and families under the care of the paediatric surgery/urology team, providing guidance, support and advice.

To fulfil this role you will have excellent communication and organisational skills, be an effective educator and role model and be able to demonstrate leadership skills and ability to influence change.

You will be enthusiastic, flexible and able to work effectively and efficiently under pressure. 

You will have already played a role within both the care of paediatric general surgery and paediatric urology patients and have the desire to further enhance and develop your skills.

Part time hours would be considered.

You will be a recognised expert in the specialty, responsible for assessing, developing and implementing Specialist Nursing care programmes and undertaking Specialist Nursing procedures

Responsible for providing specialist advice and support to, and liaising with, other staff. This includes the provision of specialist education and training for other staff and students

Responsible for implementing a clearly defined  integrated approach to patient care encompassing new treatments and evidence based care

Required to undertake research and lead clinical audits in own specialist area

Experience
