Applications are invited to apply for a Clinical fellow in Medical Retina in Ophthalmology at Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. This is a new full-time post for 12 months in the first instance.
The post will support the team consisting of Consultant, Speciality Doctors, and Trainees in the Retina Team. The successful candidate will complement SAS doctors and will be expected to play an active role in the delivery of service. The successful candidate will obtain training in both Medical and Vitreo-retinal clinics, Laser, and Injection clinics. Training will emphasise on the management of both simple and complex cases, laser, and surgical management options. The candidate should have good knowledge in general ophthalmology and the management of acute ophthalmic conditions. The post will provide an excellent opportunity to develop experience in managing medical and surgical retina patients.
This post will not currently involve the post holder participating in an on-call Rota however this may change in the future. The post will however involve evening clinics with booked urgent patients. As a department we are keen to develop our doctors, encouraging their own professional development and goals.

- They will be expected to participate in most of the day-to-day activities of the department in co-operation with the rest of the Ophthalmology team.

- carry out administration related to these activities.
- The successful candidate is expected to participate in all the other on-going activities of the department including audit, research projects and to attend departmental meetings and teaching sessions.
- To observe the Trust’s agreed guidelines and procedures, on clinical matters and to follow the local and national employment Human Resources Policies and Procedures
- To ensure adequate arrangements are in place for two-way communication between hospital staff involved in the care of the post holder’s patients when necessary.
- To contribute and to participate in the Head and Neck Directorate’s clinical audit and annual appraisal programmes.
