Job overview

A Part Time Secretary is required in the Emergency General Surgery department to provide a Comprehensive and Quality Medical Secretarial Service to Consultants and their teams.

You will provide administrative support as well as be involved in the day to day work for the Consultants. You should be enthusiastic, motivated and have good organisational and communication skills. Excellent computer and audio-typing skills are also required.

Previous Secretarial experience is essential, medical terminology/knowledge would be an advantage.

Education & Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GCSE Grade C, or above/equivalent in English Language
  • RSA II Typing, or equivalent
  • Medical Terminology Course, or ability to demonstrate equivalent ability

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working within busy office environment
  • Experience of word processing
  • Experience of audiotyping
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working within The NHS, General Practice or Private Sector

Skills & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Good written and telephone communication skills, to enable liaison with staff at all levels
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of Data Protection Act, 1998 and other Trust Policies and Procedures
