We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Speech and Language Therapist who is passionate about working with school-aged children with complex needs.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic and innovative team of therapists and therapy assistants, delivering high quality SLT services to children on Complex Needs caseload across a range of settings . The caseload is very varied and includes children with Down Syndrome, epilepsy, acquired brain injury and physical difficulties.
Multi-disciplinary assessment and intervention is integral to this post. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work alongside other health and education professionals to deliver assessment and intervention to complex children at a highly specialist level. Management of feeding difficulties across of range of settings will also be key part of this post.
Development of clinical pathways as well as training, support and mentoring of staff will be an important aspect of this role.
Experience of working in complex needs as well as competencies in paediatric dysphagia are essential for this position. The postholder will also require access to a car or ability to travel between county-wide locations.
CYP Therapies have a strong commitment to CPD and regular clinical supervision. Access to specialist training is available via internal and external courses, as well as mentoring, clinical supervision, attendance at regional and national CEN meetings etc.

Person specification
Education
Essential criteria
- Recognised Speech & Language Therapy Degree Qualification or equivalent
- Health Professions Council License to Practice
- Formal post-graduate dysphagia training
- Evidence of successful completion of significant specialist post graduate training
Desirable criteria
- Registered Member of Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists
- Evidence of successful completion of specialist short courses in signing e.g. Makaton
- Evidence of successful completion of specialist short course in AAC
Experience
Essential criteria
- Competencies working within paediatric dysphagia
- Experience in clinical areas of low/mid/ high tech AAC at a functional level
- Experience of carrying out assessments and therapy with a complex needs caseload
Desirable criteria
- Experience as clinical supervisor
- Experience in delivering training/coaching to parents and other professionals
- Working knowledge of the mainstream education system
- Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
