Job overview
The Post Holder should :
- Be a registered nurse with experience of working in the theatre environment and who has the skills and knowledge to adhere to national guidelines relating to safety and environmental requirements.
- Ability to be organised and efficient to ensure service demands are met.
- Participate in clinical sessions assisting with dermatology surgery and specialist dermatology clinics.
Main duties of the job
- Participate in clinical practice shifts in dermatology surgical and outpatients clinics ( minor surgery, MOHS, wound management, leg ulcer management and obtaining biopsies )
- Chaperone during procedures or patient assessments
- Communicate with patients and relatives concerning assessment's treatment and procedures
- Be a patient advocate and ensure best interests are considered
- Ensure consent process is adhered to and that the patient has a full understanding of procedure
- Adhere to infection control, medicines management and Health & Safety policies
- undertake all the necessary mandatory training to ensure required competencies
- Once competent to undertake minor surgical procedures

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING e.g. Education, professional qualifications
Essential criteria
- NMC Registered Nurse
- Relevant post registration course – (e.g. Dermatology degree or dermatology complex surgical course
- Relevant post registration course – (e.g. Dermatology degree or dermatology complex surgical course
- Leadership & Management course/ willingness and ability to undertake training to undertake training within set timetable
EXPERIENCE e.g. Breadth of occupational experience
Essential criteria
- Minimum 3 years post registration experience in Dermatology
- Experience of autonomous practice and decision making
- Previous experience of undertaking Dermatology related surgery
SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE
Essential criteria
- Ability to communicate complex and highly sensitive information
- Skills and knowledge in managing and supporting patients with Dermatology conditions
- Evidence of undertaking audits and evaluating data
