Job overview

Exciting opportunities exist for radiographic assistants to join the Radiology team at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW). The successful candidate will be required to assist the Radiographers with the smooth throughput of workload. Duties may include preparing the patients for their examination, chaperoning, data entry on the radiology information system, and when working in ultrasound you will also be required to perform decontamination of equipment. Full training will be given.

The successful candidate must have a flexible approach to working hours, duties will be 24/7 ie will include night shifts and some weekend working.

Good communication skills are essential, as well as empathetic approach to both patients and their relatives. You will work with the multidisciplinary team to ensure that the patients of Bristol experience a high standard of service and a good patient journey. Previous experience of working in the NHS would be an advantage.

Main duties of the job

  • To assist the Radiologists and Radiographers and administrative staff with all working practices to ensure an efficient standard of service is maintained.
  • To assist the Radiologists/Radiographers/ technicians, when needed, by providing a high standard of patient care before during and after the examination
    in accordance with instructions and training received.
  • Maintain effective communication with patients, relatives and members of the Multidisciplinary team regarding all aspects of care demonstrating a range of appropriate communication skills. Deal with enquiries and taking action, where appropriate, and passing information promptly to the appropriate member of staff.
  • Maintaining accurate computer data and filing.
