Lecturer/Senior Lecturer Project Lead Physician Associate Surgical Intern Project

Applications are now invited for a three year, fixed-term part time (0.5 fte) post of Project Lead and Lecturer / Senior Lecturer to work within the Physician Associate teaching team to:

Lead (under the direction of the Programme Director of the PA Programme and working closely with Trust, HEEKSS School of Surgery colleagues) the development and delivery of a Physician Associate Surgical Internship (a 60 credit masters level programme)

In addition the post holder will contribute to the teaching of the PgD / MSc in Physician Associate Studies and work closely with colleagues within the IMS and across the Faculty of Health and Wellbeing, Higher Education Institutions in Kent Surrey and Sussex, Health Education England Kent- Surrey and Sussex (HEKSS) and local NHS partners.

The post will be based at the Medway Campus of the University.

This post represents a significant opportunity for a talented and ambitious person who wishes to be part of an exciting new development at the University and to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders to make a significant contribution to educating the future medical workforce.

A PA is a new healthcare professional who, while not a doctor, works to the medical model, with the attitudes, skills and knowledge base to deliver holistic care and treatment within the general medical and/or general practice team under defined levels of supervision.

The Surgical Internship Project represents a new development in the PA programme involving twelve month paid internship opportunities for qualified physician associates to acquire specialized skills and top up their current PgD to a Master’s degree in a work-based educational setting.
