Clinical and Care Professional Leads support south east London-wide and borough programmes of work, therefore, there is an expectation that you currently work within south east London, and for borough based roles, within that borough.

The Maternity Clinical Care Professional Lead for the Children & Young Person Alliance (CYPA) plays a pivotal role in advancing the health and care system women and birthing people accessing maternal services across Lambeth. This leadership position demands strategic oversight and clinical expertise to foster integration, ensure high standards of care, and promote effective collaboration within the CYPA, broader Lambeth Together programme, and key maternity provider partners. The role serves as a key representative for the Alliance, ensuring consistent and equitable service delivery aligned with national and local health priorities and is actively involved in linking with the Local Neonatal & Maternity System to keep the CYPA and Lambeth informed of system developments.

Main duties of the job

-    Act as a leading clinical and professional voice across the Children & Young Person Alliance, specifically focusing on maternity services, representing the interests and standards of the Alliance.
-    Oversee and contribute to the strategic and operational development of the CYPA, ensuring the alignment of its objectives with those of the wider Lambeth Together initiative and key maternity provider partners.
-    Provide expert advice and guidance on clinical governance in maternity services, influencing planning and delivery of services to ensure they are safe, effective, and sustainable.
-    Chair and co-chair key meetings with stakeholders from maternity services, effectively communicating and synthesising views and contributions of diverse clinical stakeholders.
-    Identify opportunities for pathway redesign and integrated care to enhance service delivery for maternity, neonatal, children, and young people.

Qualifications/Education

Essential criteria
  • Qualified care and/or clinical professional i.e., NMC, HCPC, social work register, GMC, etc.
  • Postgraduate degree or higher professional qualification
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Project Management or programme management certification or equivalent experience.
Desirable criteria
  • Leadership training qualification

Skills/Experience

Essential criteria
  • Understand the challenges of health inequalities and principles of identifying and addressing these
  • High level analytical skills and the ability to draw qualitative and quantitative data from a wide range of sources and present in a clear concise manner.
Desirable criteria
  • Bringing together collaborative groups or networks
  • Significant experience of leading, managing, developing, influencing and inspiring staff.
